BANGALORE, Jan 21: Karnataka Chief Minister J H Patel today said the confidence vote was being sought by the Janata Dal ministry only to clear `confusions’ in the minds of people following the resignation of three of his Cabinet colleagues, who joined Ramakrishna Hegde camp, even as Lok Sakthi declared that it would not topple the Patel government.

Meanwhile, another ruling Janata Dal MLA, P C Siddangoudar, today announced his decision to join Hegde’s non-political outfit, Rashtreeya Navanirmana Vedike. Asked what made him to join the Hegde camp, Siddangoudar said he was `fed up’ with Union Minister S R Bommai’s politics in Dharwad district.

Patel, addressing a public meeting at Koppal in Raichur district a day after the three ministers and an equal number of MLAs joined the Hegde camp, denied there was any `panic reaction’ in his camp and said the special session had been called on January 27 to clear confusion in the minds of people.
