DHARAMSALA, June 8: A resident of Army houses in the cantt area in Allahlal was allegedly badly hurt when a portion of the roof of the house collapsed on him on Saturday night owing to the sub-standard material used in construction of the building.

Lalit Sharma, Accounts Assistant with the Central School, received head injuries and was immediate rushed to the hospital.

Four newly built houses were allotted to the central school staff last year in the month of June. While the allottees have been bringing the frailty of the walls and roofs of the houses to the notice of Army authorities, it is said that inspite of the management itself detecting the faults a few months ago, nothing was done to save the occupants from the lurking danger that living in these houses presents.

The concerned assistant garrison engineer, Allahlal, was not available for comments. The central school staff has urged the Army authorities to look into the matter seriously and penalise the guilty responsible for the roofcollapse.
