After getting inspired from the plantation campaign of Nishkam Sewa Ashram, a villager has vowed to paint his village green and has succeeded in doing so. It is Devi Sahay Bhardwaj, a resident of Ghesari village, near Ambala, who recently purchased a piece of land in his village and planted fruit trees there.

According to Sharwan Kumar, founder chairman of Nishkam Sewa Ashram, “A few days ago, we received a letter from Devi Sahay Bhardwaj about this. He wrote in the letter that after getting inspired from the plantation drive of Nishkam sewa Ashram, he purchased 5,200 square yards of land in his village and planted fruit plants in it. This villager not only planted fruit plants in his land but also at many places in the village and also distributed a lot many to his friends and relatives.”

Devi Sahay has invested all his money, which he earlier had kept for old age, for this noble cause.

Telling further about him, Sharwan Kumar said,”This man bought fruit plants from nurseries in Panchkula and Chandigarh. He has written that whenever any of these plants will bear fruits, he will offer it to Nishkam Sewa ashram, from where he received the inspiration to plant and serve the needy.”

It needs to be mentioned here that Nishkam Sewa Ashram started the campaign of growing fruit plants this year. Shruti Bansal project director of Nishkam Sewa Ashram said,”We planted about 40,000 fruit plants in different parts of the states by distributing saplings free-of-cost to different schools, colleges and other organisations. This campaign will continue so that all poor and needy people may have sleep after having good nutritious diet which they otherwise rarely get.” Sharwan Kumar said that this gesture of the villager had in turn inspired the NGO to run the campaign even more successfully.
