BJP’S Bihar unit today invited former DGP D.P. Ojha to join the party but he declined the offer saying, he had ‘‘no interest’’ in joining any political party.

‘‘Though no talk at any level has been held with Ojha so far but if he at any point of time intends to join BJP, the party welcomes him,’’ Bihar BJP president Gopal Narayan Singh said. Pointing out that BJP has always welcomed educated and upright people like Ojha, he said: ‘‘If he decides to join BJP, we will accept him happily.’’

On his part, Ojha said: ‘‘I thank BJP for inviting me but presently, I have no interest in joining any political party. My fight against the state government on the issue of criminal-politician nexus has nothing to do with politics.’’

The former DGP also alleged that RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and others were harassing, Muzaffarpur Zone IG Yashwant Malhotra, for preparing a report against RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin revealing his links with Pakistan’s ISI and international criminal gangs.

‘‘Malhotra, who has submitted a 100-page report on Shahabuddin to police

headquarters, is being constantly pressurised by Laloo Yadav and the top brass of the state administration on his behalf to make a written confession that he had prepared the report against Shahabuddin at my instance,’’ Ojha said.

‘‘The state government is harassing Malhotra by seeking explanation from him on frivolous grounds and he is also not being relieved to go on Central deputation,’’ he said.

Malhotra had been assigned to the Special Security Bureau (SSB) by the Centre. The Union Home Ministry had two weeks ago communicated it to the state government, but he was not relieved, Ojha claimed.

He claimed that RJD men were threatening Malhotra for preparing the report on Shahabuddin. Malhotra, however, denied receiving any threatening calls either from Laloo Yadav or any other RJD leader for preparing the report.

The report was a confidential matter and it should not have been discussed in public, he said in Muzaffarpur.

Malhotra added said he got threats from banned MCC activists against whom he had launched a massive crackdown.
