S A S NAGAR, Sept 17: Octroi contractor Avtar Singh Walia, proprietor of Avtar Singh Walia and Company, today denied the allegations of harassment made by Mohali Industries Association and accused the industrialists of producing distorted facts before the public.Addressing media persons here today, he alleged that industrialists had been evading octroi for years together by producing fake certificates.He said that keeping in view the inconvenience caused to industrialists and others, the company has purchased 18 mobile wireless sets so that the grievances of the aggrieved people could be redressed on the spot.The complaint regarding misbehaviour or harassment by the checking staff can be lodged with Central Southern Nakka being set up near the Mohali Fire Brigade Office, Walia added. He stressed that the checking staff were issued I-cards with instructions that anyone found harassing people during octroi collection would be dealt with firmly. He added that the company would display phone numbers at every check points to avoid harassment of general public.
