Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said immediately after the win over Spain that he will make changes to the side and Nuno Gomes is the leading candidate to win a place.
‘‘I feel happy and proud to have scored the goal which allowed Portugal to get to the quarter-finals’’, said Nuno Gomes, who has scored just under a goal every two games since making his international debut against France in 1996.
