The SAD-BJP government will set up a Rs 400-crore education fund for 2009-10 session to provide basic infrastructure and facilities in village schools. This was stated on Monday by SAD(B) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was here to lay the foundation stone of 66-KV sub-station in Jhanduke village. Sukhbir urged the people to give CFLs as New Year gifts. Chief Engineer (sub-stations) HS Nagpal said the power board had adopted three villages of Bathinda to replace ordinary bulbs with CFL. During the third day of his Malwa visit, Sukhbir initiated development works worth Rs 55 crore in various villages of Bathinda and Mansa districts.
