One night’s pep talk from coach John Wright seems to have finally done the trick. The Indian team has woken up from the slumber and is looking very focussed as there was for once no living in the past. As this Test is finally heading towards an interesting climax, India’s new found resolve should come in handy. The third day’s play was the most dramatic day of the Test to date, wickets fell and once again the pendulum swung towards India but only just.Sachin’s dismissal towards the end was unfortunate but it squares up very well, because he was not given out despite having clearly edged a ball at Mohali. But while he batted Sachin gave us evidence that he is back and is at his flowing best. He made some really good shots, some vintage stuff and it really made my day. His 35th hundred is just round the corner and now I believe not that far away.Overall, India had a very good day thanks to the bowlers who smarting from yesterday’s hammering came back strongly. The decision not to take the new ball was also a good one as the old ball was doing something both for the spinners and the quickies. It was I think good tactics by skipper Ganguly who took some interesting decisions on the field. His deep fields to restrict the flow of boundaries was also very sound. For Pakistan though I have a point of criticism. They should have batted a bit more positively. I am sorry to say that they batted a bit defensively as if they wanted to draw the match. It is time India watches out now and plays sensibly on the morrow. A lead of around 300-350 should suffice for India. Overall, India are ahead 60-40 in this match.
