HYDERABAD, Oct 3: Now that the long-overdue exercise of a Cabinet reshuffle is over, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to concentrate on the strengthening of the Telugu Desam Party organisation at the State and district level to gear them up for next year’s Assembly polls.

Naidu, who reviewed the post-reshuffle scenario with senior party leaders last night and this morning, is understood to have remarked that it would take a few more days for the dust to settle as the revamp had ruffled some partymen including former roads and buildings minister S V Subba Reddy.

The Chief Minister is keenly watching the reactions from different quarters and has asked the opinion of a group of leaders who called on him at his residence yesterday. Referring to the criticism of Subba Reddy, Naidu asked the party leaders not to react to it.

“It is but natural that any minister when dropped from the Cabinet would make some noise and it would be a bit more louder in case of a minister like Subba Reddy,” a seniorTDP leader said. “Moreover, the Chief Minister was prepared for such a reaction from him (Subba Reddy),” he explained.

Naidu asked the party leaders to concentrate on making the current round of Janmabhoomi a success and a group of leaders including Rajya Sabha member P Prabhakar Reddy and Chokkapu Suryanarayana were assigned the task of coordinating the participation of all leaders in the programme.

“All ministers barring two or three have already left for their respective districts and others too would be leaving the State capital by tonight,” a senior functionary said. However, he was not sure of the participation of all the MLAs in the programme.

The party leaders are contacting all the MLAs to ensure that they are present in their constituencies during the week-long programme, lest it send wrong signals. Their participating became all the more important especially after the recent success of the Congress padayatras.
