Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said that her government would take a decision on the issue of issuing a fresh notification on Ayodhya before the September 23 deadline set by the Supreme Court. She said her decision would not hurt coalition ally BJP as it had ‘‘full faith in her.’’

Addressing mediapersons here, she lashed out at the SP for linking the notification issue with the dhikkar maharally being organised by her party on September 28. The rally was being held in protest against the SP which had described the Udyan named after Ambedkar as ‘‘a vice den.’’

She pooh-poohed remarks of SP Legislature Party Leader in the Vidhan Sabha Azam Khan that L.K. Advani had been invited to address the maharally to certify that he was ‘‘not guilty’’ in the Babri demolition. Unnerved by her rally plan, she charged, the SP was trying to divert the people’s attention from the main issue.
