‘Nothing unusual’ on Baalu issue, says Manmohan

Asked whether he was distancing himself from the controversy, PM shot back saying 'what is there to distance?'

.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday night said that his office has done ‘nothing unusual’ on the T R Baalu issue for it to stoke a controversy.

“There is nothing unusual. The Minister (Murli Deora) has explained everything in Parliament,” Singh said on the sidelines of a function to launch The Tribune 125 years : An Anthology at his residence.

Asked whether he was distancing himself from the controversy, he shot back saying ‘what is there to distance?’

Deora told the Rajya Sabha earlier that the PMO has not issued any order to help the company owned by T R Baalu’s family but made ‘certain references’ in a ‘routine manner’ on the basis of a representation by the Shipping Minister’s son.
