Sahnoor (20) and Soni (15) consumed a poisonous substance late on Tuesday night in Dhaipurva village after their family allegedly denied them permission to marry.They were rushed to the Kulvanti Hospital but the doctors declared Soni dead on arrival, while the condition of Sahnoor is serious. The youths were distant relatives and were living in the house of Soni’s maternal uncle Usman Ahmed. Sahnoor is the brother-in-law of Ahmed. Inspector of Bithoor police station, Jitender Singh said Soni, a resident of Kanpur Dehat, had shifted to Ahmed’s house it was close to her school.“She was a student of Class VI at Sardar Patel Inter School in the Mandana. Sahnoor worked as a tempo driver,” said the officer. “It appears that when they were rebuked by their family, they decided to commit suicide,” added Singh. Ahmed said though the family was against the relationship, they never imagined that the two would take the extreme step.
