Non-creamy layer OBC quotas in DU from 2008

“The quota will be implemented from this year. We are increasing the seats by 18 per cent to implement nine per cent OBC quota this year. To keep the creamy layer out of quota ambit, the form will carry the option for non-creamy layer OBC students,” he said.

The university will implement the 27 OBC quota staggered over three years.

There are about 35,000 seats at the under-graduate level in around 80 colleges under the Delhi University. The number of seats would be increased to over 41,000 this year. The admission process will start from June two. Students can submit their admission forms from June two to June 16.

The first cut-off list is expected to come out on June 26, Verma said.

The ‘open day’ presentations will be held in the colleges from May 24 during which information on courses and colleges will be provided to the students.

To ensure that the admission process is smooth, the university will launch a community radio from next week. The radio will be available on 90.4 M-HZ. It will air special programmes on courses, colleges and the available seats.

The university will also start a telecounselling line in the Dean’s office where the students can get the required information on admission. The numbers are 011-27662507 and 27662508.

Besides, the university will update its website on a regular basis, Verma said.
