No support to UPA will be helping the NDA: Cong

Congress on Thursday cautioned the Left parties that they would be helping the NDA if they failed to come out openly in support of the UPA after the next elections.

“No decision is also a decision. They have to come openly with us and if they remain neutral, then it would mean they are siding with the NDA,” party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told PTI.

He said this in response to CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat’s statement ruling out support to the Congress in forming the next government at the Centre.

Making it clear that there was no scope for a Third Front, Ahmed said that such a front was neither practical nor feasible. “Wishful thinking is a different thing and hardcore reality is different,” he said.

Noting that the Left parties have always professed their support for “secular” forces, he said that they should not do anything which would benefit “communal” forces.

He hoped that better sense would prevail on the Left parties in future. “This time a feeling of anger is dictating them,” he added.
