JALANDHAR, Nov 17: The Bahujan Samaj Party candidate from Adampur, Vidhwant Kaur, today scotched rumours that she was retiring in favour of the Congress candidate, Kanwaljit Singh Lally.Talking to ENS at Adampur today, Vidhwant Kaur said even if the BSP high command were to make a decision to make her retire from the contest, she would not do so. However, she hastily added that no such possibility was being discussed at any level.Vidhwant Kaur, who quit the Congress to join the BSP just after the announcement of the bypoll, said, "If I had to compromise, why should I have left the Congress in the first place?" she said, adding that the Congressmen had spread the canard that she would retire in favour of the Congress candidate."I am very much in the contest and am campaigning vigorously, the people should be very clear about that," she said.The BSP candidate also alleged that the Congressmen were spreading rumours that she was taking favours from the Akali Dal (Badal) to favour their candidate.
