ROHTAK, Sept 8: The people of Haryana will get power round the clock after 10 months and Rs 150 crore will be spent on the repairs of roads in the state declared Chief Minister Bansi Lal while talking to newsmen here today.Talking about various schemes for improvement in generation and distribution of power he said by the end of December 1999, 1279 mw of more electricity will be produced which would cover the entire shortage of the state, he said.
Bansi Lal said that Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee will inaugurate the first unit of Faridabad power plant in January next year.
Accusing Om Parkash Chautala, Opposition leader of instigating people to not to deposit power bills, he warned the defaulters that their power connections will be snapped. He issued warning to those who were having illegal power connection or “kundi” connection that they would be arrested and put behind bars.
He ruled out the possibility of hike in power tariff in near future. He also denied the allegation levelled by various electricity unions that he was committing power theft in his house situation in Bhiwani.
He said free electricity and water to farmers was not possible. The Indian National Lok Dal leader was misleading the farmers by making false promises. This is a political gimmick, he said.
Bansi Lal said the government will deal sternly with the proposed strike of September 16. He was evasive in his replies when asked to comment on the steps he planned to take in this regard. He said the government has already given the employees the recommended pay scales recommended by the Fifth Pay Commission, therefore, there was no scope for giving them more.
He said electricity bills amounting Rs 15.26 crore were due from different villages of the state. He asked electricity department to expedite the process of recovery.
Talking about inter-state dispute with Punjab regarding Sutlej-Yamuna link project he said Shal Commission report should be implemented in toto.The statement of Shamsher Singh Surjewala, president Bharat Krishak Samaj that nearly 20,000 farmers had committed suicide due to debt is a bundle of gossip, said Bansi Lal.
Admitting that there was rise in crime in the state the Chief Minister said that night patrolling will be increased on National Highway 10 from Meham to Delhi border. He expressed his resentment over deteriorating law and order situation in the district.
The Chief Minister said several complaints have come to his notice regarding the functioning of Rohtak Medical college. He said steps were being taken to streamline the functioning of the college. He declared more aid for cardiology department.
He said the Lok Dal propaganda that mid-term polls were round the corner was a “mischievous move”. He said he would not taken a moment to quit if BJP withdrew its support, but hastened to add that the government will last full term.
Later talking to party workers he said that they should highlight the achievements of the government among the masses and work for improving the image of the party.
