Prominent religious preacher and satradhikar (chief) of the 350-year-old Auniati Satra of Majuli in Assam, Pitambar Deva Goswami today issued a strong warning to the likes of VHP international general secretary Pravin Togadia saying there was no place for Hindu militancy in the state.
‘‘Ours is a society where Hinduism has been propagated by preacher-reformer Sankaradeva as a way of life and culture. Militancy, be it Hindu or Muslim has no place in Assam,’’ he said. Goswami, who shared a dais with Togadia, said he did not agree with the Hinduism professed by Togadia.
