The neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu might differ on several but come sports they are united. Tamil Nadu got a rousing cheer when the state went into lead in the first set. Suddenly there was a lull as Tamil Nadu lost quick points in the second and trailed 0-6 in the third. Once they equalised and surged ahead it was cheers all the way that ended in a thundering applause when Tamil Nadu emerged victorious.

So when Pandeswari won the 200 metres gold one of the youngsters greeted her and asked: “What’s your name?”
