When the JD(U) MPs decided to resign from the Lok Sabha, they may not have realised what they had got themselves into. After Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee accepted the five resignations on November 11, some of the MPs found their phone lines disconnected the very next day, sending their personal staff scurrying around to get the connections reactivated. What puzzled them was that while senior leader George Fernandes as well as Meena Singh and Kailash Baitha suffered this fate, the phone lines of Prabhunath Singh and party whip Rajiv Ranjan were working.
