Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh on Monday said no political leader has got any right to stop ‘Salwa Judum’ and said the movement would continue till the region is free from the naxal menace.
“It is a spontaneous movement of the people against the terror of the naxalites. It is not a government sponsored movement or a government scheme that can be stopped at any time. Salwa Judum would continue till the region is free from naxal menace,” Singh said.
He was speaking to the mediamen on the occasion of BJP’s election manifesto release in Raipur.
On a question on Ajit Jogi’s reported declaration that Salwa Judum would be stopped and the Chhattisgarh Public Security Act (CPSA) would be repealed once Congress comes to power, Raman Singh said, no leader can stop the movement.
Besides, he questioned the Congress leadership’s mum on coming out strongly against the Naxalites and making any statement to deal naxalism with iron hand.
“Why the Congress leadership is not taking tough stand against naxalism. Why they are always talking about discontinuing Salwa Judum,” he questioned.
Singh further said, “There was no violation of Chattisgarh Public security Act. The act has come into existence in line with the intention of union government to deal with terror elements with strong hand. Still I could not understand why some people are talking about repealing this Act.”
