EC on Wednesday directed the Centre not to undertake any fresh work under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), a Centrally sponsored scheme, till the completion of the LS polls. Giving its clarifications to the Rural Development Ministry, the Commission said that the work under the scheme which had already been started on the ground may be continued. ‘‘No fresh work shall be started till the completion of the election,’’ the Commission said that tenders were also not to be finalised during the period of polls.
