MUMBAI, June 3: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has said that no part of the Jet Airways Boeing 737-500 aircraft which shot off the runway at Mumbai airport on Saturday last would be allowed to be taken abroad for examination. The arrival of a team of engineers to examine the aircraft had raised speculations that some crucial parts of the aircraft would be sent abroad for examination.
“The DGCA will not allow any part of the aircraft be sent abroad before the issue is investigated by us,” said Director of Airworthiness, P K Chattopadhayay. But investigations are progressing at a snail’s pace.
Director of Air Safety Subhash Chandra said the inquiry is in its preliminary stage. “I have not yet questioned the cabin crew and the pilot, but the issue will be given priority,” Chandra said.
