NEW DELHI, Feb 9: BJP president L K Advani today said that a BJP government does not need a deputy prime minister and described his becoming the one under Atal Behari Vajpayee as “hypothetical”. Replying to a question at a press conference about his reported remarks in a TV interview, he said he had told the questioner that the question was hypothetical and that he would accept any responsibility under Vajpayee who was his senior throughout his political career.

“What is my role after the elections will be decided in consultation with my party colleagues. I would have no problem in being junior to Vajpayee,” he said. “I don’t think a good and viable government needs a deputy prime minister,” he said.He also accused the Congress of perpetuating “dynastic rule” in the country.
