The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday categorically said that selectors are not barred from staying in the players’ dressing room during an international match if they had secured a permission from the regional security officer.
“There are ways in which the selectors can go into the players’ dressing rooms. They have to get the accreditations from the regional security manager to do so. The other officials also need to follow this process. There is no other issue,” said ICC’s CEO Malcolm Speed in Mumbai.
Speed was answering questions put to him about ICC’s reported instructions to the BCCI not to allow the national selectors from going into the players’ dressing rooms.
“I am surprised by your question. I was not aware of this. There’s no problem in the selectors sitting in the players’ dressing room. They have to follow a process, that’s all,” the ICC official said.
“For example I am going to witness the Delhi Test between India and Pakistan. I assume I will be given an accreditation but I, and other cricket officials, also will have to go through the process if I want to go into the dressing rooms,” he added.
