VADODARA, Nov 11: The Narmada Jan Andolan, which will perform a kar seva at the Kevadia Colony from December 4, has convened meetings of heads of various co-operatives in different parts of the State next week.A spokesman of the NJA told Express Newsline that the meetings would be part of the attempts to mobilise support for the programme. He said that Kissan leader Sharad Joshi, who is heading the movement, has so far held 23 taluka level and seven district level meetings. On November 19, a meeting will be held in Mumbai to brief members of the Asmita Cultural Foundation. He said that the kar seva was not interested in the costs and benefits of the project or in the big dam versus small dam controversy. The spokesman reiterated that through kar seva, the kar sevaks were trying to bring water in the main canal of the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) so that it starts reaching the Northern regions of the State suffering from drought-like situations.
