CHANDIGARH, Feb 18: The Chandigarh Masters Powerlifting team gave a good account of itself by winning seven gold and one bronze medals in the recently concluded 13th National Masters Powerlifting Championship held at Ranigunj (West Bengal).In the 90 kg plus 40 years class, Jagdish Singh, claimed gold medal with a total lift of 592.5 kg. He bagged gold in squat and deadlift. He was also winner of a bronze medal in bench press with a lift of 135 kg.In the 110 kg plus 40 section international Nirmaljit Singh, improved upon his own Masters record from 715 kg to 765 kg. Nirmal, who is a Bharat Petroleum dealer, also won gold and smashed his own record in squat with a lift of 300 kg. His previous record was of 282.5 kg. He won gold in bench press and also emerged winner in deadlift to improve upon his own record to 300 kg from 272.5 kg.
