HUDA draw of lots on June 26
The draw of lots for Sector 21 housing scheme floated by the Haryana Urban Development Authority will be held on June 26. The draw will be held at Aggarwal Bhawan in Sector 16 ,at 11 am. The HUDA has received 18,000 applications against 226 plots of different sizes in response to the scheme of free hold residential plots floated in November last year.

Badal to inaugurate seminar today
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will inaugurate a seminar on Challenges of the 21st Century which will get underway at the Guru Gobind Singh Bhawan, here on Friday (June 19). The seminar, part of the Khalsa Tricentenary celebrations, is being organised jointly by the Guru Gobind Singh Foundation, Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjabi University.

Essays invited on N-issues
The Department of Atomic Energy has invited essays from college and university student on either of two subjects, namely: (1) Nuclear Power Generation and Radio-isotope Applications in India or (2) Technological Spin-offs of Atomic Energy in India. The essays may be written in any Indian language including English; should not exceed 2,500 words and should reach the Publicity Division, Department of Atomic Energy, CSM Marg, Mumbai 400 039 not later than August 30, 1998. Topic 1 is open only to undergraduate students; Topic 2 is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Jr. Telecom Officers’ stir continues
The local Junior Telecom Officers’ Association (I) agitation entered its fourth day today. Association members demonstrated before the Sector 18 office of Telecom Department, principal general manager, to press for their demands. According to association secretary Y. J. S. Sodhi, the agitation will continue until the issues were settled.

Pensioners flay recommendations
The Punjab State Pensioners’ Confederation has deplored the recently published recommendations of the Punjab Pay Commission Implementation Committee with regard to pensionary benefits to Punjab Government and semi-government pensioners. It appealed to chief minister to reject the recommendations .

PCS Industries opens branch n PCS Industries, a Patni Group of Companies, has opened its branch office in the City. According to a press release issued by PCS Industries, the company is into manufacturing computers and has a collaboration with US-based Data General Corporation to sell its products.

Residents meet SDM
A delegation representing Senior Secular Welfare Society of Sector 21-A and B met Sub-divisional Magistrate (East) Sanjay Kumar to request upkeep and improvement of the sector’s park. The SDM assured the delegation that the interests of the sector would be respected.

Rashtriya Surakhsha Samiti met and condemned the stand of Left parties regarding construction of a Ram Temple at Ayodhya. Speakers at the meeting claimed that the nuclear explosion had boosted the image of the Vajpayee government in the world while the Left parties were bent upon spoiling India’s image by harping on the Ramjanambhoomi.
