MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 4: Indian Education Society (IES) New English, Bandra hadn’t got past the quarters in the under-14 Giles Shield Cricket Tournament this decade. So, it was no wonder that once they gained the first innings lead, they simply stretched the four-day summit clash of the 99th edition to deny opponents and defending champions IES VN Sule Guruji any chance whatsoever.
The 13-year-old Sant fine all-round display (53 & 78 coupled with his bowling performance of 4-37) fetched him the man of the match award.
Leg-spinner Kinjal Patel continued his fine showing in the event, claiming four wickets for 87 runs to end up with a match haul of 10-194. Patel, who had notched 57 runs in Sule Guruji’s first innings, was the highest scorer in the team’s second innings posting 50 runs (79b, 81m, 7×4) as they ended the day at 97-1.
Patel was conferred the best bowler award while Borkar was adjudged the best batsman.
