Maoist rebels abducted 300 women for not cooperating and killed three persons, including a child, reports said on Monday.

A group of Maoists stopped a passenger bus and opened fire, killing a man and a nine year-old-girl at Bahundangi area in Bhadrapur district today, the Kantipur newspaper reported.

In a separate incident, a civilian was killed when a bomb planted by Maoists exploded in Jhapachowk in Jhapa district, the government-run Gorkhapatra daily reported. The report said rebels abducted 300 women from Bhaiswole area of Achham district for not cooperating with them during their ninth anniversary celebrations on February 13.

The report added that 26 Maoist workers surrendered in Rautahat district. Meanwhile, no group has claimed responsibility for the gunning down of Nepalese activist, Ganesh Silwal, on Sunday.
