The Congress-led coalition at the Centre on Friday blamed the previous NDA regime for all the “present ills” in the Northeastern region, particularly Assam, where several Hindi-speaking people have been killed in attacks by ULFA and other militant groups. “The NDA had a hand in encouraging the ULFA. Otherwise, how could the outlawed organisation become so active. It was not so strong earlier,” Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal said. He also rejected the BJP charge that CMTarun Gogoi had “links” with the militant outfit.
