Nashik, May 9: The president of the youth wing of the NCP, Jitendra Avhad, has warned Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Govindrao Adik, against tarnishing the image of NCP president Sharad Pawar.Talking to reporters, Avhad said that if Adik continued to criticise Pawar, the youth wing of the NCP would launch an agitation to counter it. He accused Adik of launching a smear campaign against Pawar.He further said that the NCP would make all efforts to come to power in the state on its own without the support of other parties including the Congress. He said that none of the Congress leaders had the capability of Pawar, who had not only formed a new party but ensured its victory in the last polls.Avhad said that the NCP had no objection to the Nirdhar Yatra undertaken by the MPCC but Adik should not use it to spit venom on Pawar. He claimed that Adik had no hold among the masses and had no right to criticise a mass based leader like Pawar.Avhad's statement comes close on the heels of the criticism of Pawar by Adik, who had set out on the Nirdhar Yatra from Nashik on Sunday. Adik had accused Pawar of being over ambitious and of indulging in personalised politics.
