NC leader shot dead in Kawdara

National Conference leader Farooq Ahmad Zargar was today shot dead by militants in J-K.

The militants shot at Zargar, the provincial president of Youth National Conference, at Kawdara on Nallamar Road here around 11.15 am, the sources said. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, they added. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

The NC demanded an inquiry into the murder of Zargar and termed his killing as an attempt to derail the panchayat and civic elections due next month.

Party patron Farooq Abdullah, chief Omar Abdullah, Kashmir provincial chief Mehboob Beg, president of Youth National Conference Qaiser Jamsheed Lone were among those who expressed grief and shock over the killing of Zargar.
