The Congress here today charged the Orissa Government with the violation of Forest and Environment laws while allowing the mining of bauxite, and demanded an inquiry by the Centre.A delegation of senior party leaders — led by AICC general secretary Digivijay Singh — met Forest and Environment Minister A. Raja today and submitted a memorandum on the alleged irregularities. Digivijay Singh, who is in charge of Orissa, told reporters later that they have also sought an appointment with the PM and Sonia Gandhi.Singh said the agreement signed between the Orissa Mining Corporation and another firm for floating a joint venture company to mine bauxite, was one-sided and against public interest. The price of the ore had been arbitrarily fixed at Rs 200 per ton.
