Ranchi, Feb 5: Naval divers are today failed to establish contact with the 38 miners, including two mine officials, trapped in the submerged Bagdighi mines of the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) since Friday.BCCL public relations in-charge Ramanuj Prasad today said the first batch of naval divers who had entered the mine pit on Sunday could not locate the miners. Efforts were still on.Prasad said the second batch of five naval divers were reaching Dhanbad from Visakhapatnam and would enter the submerged mine pit to locate the trapped miners.He said the naval divers who had entered the mine from the adjacent Jairam colliery at around 1400 hrs yesterday could not locate those trapped inside for the past over 72 hours.Prasad, who is still hopeful about the survival of the miners, described the reports about the naval divers locating the seven bodies of the miners in the submerged pit yesterday.He said seven high-powered pumps had been commissioned to pump out the water. Four gallons of water was being pumped out every minute.Water was receding, he claimed and said that if the water level receded by this afternoon the rescue team would be able to reach the mine pit.
