VADODARA, March 22: Experts from the field of fire services have formed a National Association of Fire Officers (NAFO).NAFO president G B Menon told Express Newsline that the association has been formed with a view to bring unity and uniformity in fire services in India and facilitate interaction and friendly behaviour among fire officers.The association, which would be registered under the Societies Registration Act, will organise national seminars and conferences on various subjects relating to fire safety and protection at different centres within the country in coming months.At the association's first general meeting, Menon, former fire advisor to Government of India, was elected president and chief fire officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade V V Rao the vice-president.Deputy director (Fire) GEB N K Bishnoi has been elected general secretary and divisional fire officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade S B Bhambure the joint secretary. Fire marshall of GSFC V Jagdish has been appointed treasurer.Speaking on the occasion, the members stressed the need for such a kind of association.Menon said any expert from the field of fire services could become a member. Former DIG (Fire) of CISF D D Purandhare was also present.
