Euphoria is one thing, which has the ability to take over the mental faculties of human beings. There is nothing new in this, when it happens to the common masses but it certainly springs a surprise when it grips the so-called intelligentsia of a society more so people occupying high offices responsible for their acts.In the past fortnight or so India a nation of over a billion people was struck by two things, the revelation of presence of mole in previous establishments and the Mumbai train blasts. Both were unfortunate the only difference was the latter being more gruesome, ghastly and inhumane both in its concept and approach while the former of the nature which certainly disappointing but could be rectified in future with certain disciplinary measures in the high offices. Now if the merit of the story is kept in mind every sane human mind will agree that the issue of Mumbai train bomb blasts is something that should be having a strain on the minds of our policy makers. Yes, the lives lost in the blasts were mostly of the common man, so in the end it is he who has to bear the brunt. This he will do as he has been doing since ages and his endurance is something, which should sweat even, the most cold hearted of our politicians. For these politicians, who dress up in the best of their whites (Kurtas), rides in the best of whites (Ambassadors) and indulges in a lots of whites (lies) the difference between the Mumbai bomb blasts and the clamour for the great discovery of mole, which even God is not aware about, has lost its value.Mumbai train blasts happened before the gaping eyes of whole nation, the devastation caused by it is know to each and every kid of the country, the ramifications of the deadly act are apparent to one and all. No discovery is required to mend up for the precious lives lost in the tragic incident. No calculations are required to adjudge the pain inflicted on the caring parents, young children and caring mothers and sisters. Everything is as obvious and evident as it should be but still the caretakers of our democracy has no moment to spare to take cognizance of the loss that has left many dried eyes bereaved and orphaned. But no, for us and our representatives in the highest offices of the country the biggest issue at present is to pacify the curiosity regarding a statement made by a former minister with reference to some unknown mole in a government which reigned years back. Even after the man who was about to disclose the mole, changed his stand and his statements umpteen times making evident the hollowness of his claim, the responsible politicians of the Parliament were still only interested in knowing the whereabouts of the mole whose existence at any period of time is still questionable. Is this what we elect our politicians for spending crores of rupees in the largest election process of the country and then spending a huge amount on running the daily business of the Parliament House just to ensure that the soap operas arising because of some fictional mole are relayed regularly in the full view of the humble masses? The views expressed here are those of the writer and not necessarily those of expressindia.com
