Narain Kartikeyan, after topping two tests with the Williams’ team, completed his outing on a troubled note when he was plagued by engine problems at the Jerez circuit in Spain. He caused two of the three red flags raised on the day.Engine trouble gave him the first red flag while an oil leak earned him the second. He completed 34 laps with a fastest time of 1:20.871, the seventh fastest of the day. His team member, Nico Rosberg also had his share of troubles due to an oil leak. But he was the best Williams’ driver on the circuit today with a time of 1:18.894.Amid the big guns, including Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso, the day belonged to Renault’s tester Franck Montagny, who clocked 1:18.322. The tests have been particularly productive for Karthikeyan, as he was listed 12th among 29 drivers, including a fifth, seventh and second position respectievely. The Jerez programme comes to an end tomorrow with a wet testing session, of which Narain would not be a part. It now is time for Narain to start waiting for the good news, or the bad.
