The father of Pawan Kumar, who was “killed” in Mumbai where he had gone to appear for a Railway Board examination last Sunday, has registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against MNS chief Raj Thackeray and his unknown supporters.

Jagdish Prasad Mahto of Barakhurd village under Noorsarai police station filed a complaint in the court of Biharsharif Chief Judicial Magistrate Abhimanyu Lal Srivastava on Friday. In his complaint, Mahto said “his only son was thrown on the railway track after being killed by MNS workers at Andheri railway station”. The court has not set a date for hearing the case.

“There was an injury inflicted by a sharp weapon on my son’s head. I have lost everything, I cannot let it go as if it’s a freak railway accident,” Mahto told reporters later. The case has been registered under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy).

Legal experts explained that the Biharsharif court can either institute an inquiry under a First Class Judicial Magistrate to record the statement of the complainant and witnesses before issuing summons to Raj Thackeray or ask Noorsarai police station to investigate the case with help from its Mumbai counterpart. Three persons, including Pawan’s friends Manoj and Shailendra Kumar, have been named as witnesses in the petition.

Earlier, Muzaffarpur advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha had filed a murder and sedition case against the MNS chief in the district on October 20. Ojha said: “The court has asked First Class Judicial Magistrate Ram Surat to investigate and submit its report to the court on November 6.” Raj Kumar Chaudhary, an examinee whose had was fractured in the MNS attack, has filed an FIR in Vaishali against Thackeray. Meanwhile, protestors continued to vandalise railway stations and public places across Bihar. In Motihari, protestors unsuccessfully tried to attack the Madhubhan block office. Students also protested at Betia and Gaya railway stations. Train services were resumed at most places even as the All India Students’ Association called for a Bihar bandh on Saturday.
