Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu today attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for various lapses and inaction by the UPA Government.
Naidu was in Delhi to meet the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to protest against ‘‘political’’ murders in the state and plead for justice and relief for the victims, mostly TDP workers.
Addressing the media, the former Andhra Pradesh CM said: ‘‘Sonia Gandhi has raised the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, perhaps she must visit Andhra where the Congress rules, to see for herself the complete collapse of law and order. The unprecedent violence and reign of terror let loose in the state, especially in Anantapur, by Congress leaders, the systematic liquidation of TDP leaders, and the total abdication of the state government in discharging its duties, has necessitated this petition to the NHRC.’’
Naidu criticised the Prime Minister for the slow pace of development work in the country. ‘‘A hundred days have gone by but the Government is yet to act on the rural employment guarantee scheme,’’ said Naidu, adding that no efforts were made to control inflation nor to improve the growth rate. ‘‘This Government is not serious even on the issue of interlinking rivers.’’
