CHANDIGARH, Nov 2: Do you remember Nanhe, that thin young man in `Hum Log’ whom we saw later on in `Buniyaad’ too but vanished off the screen afterwards? Well, Abhinav Chaturvedi, still thin, is back on the screen with Ravindra Peepat’s `Na Jayiyo Pardes’. And he is totally fascinated by the project. "After `Buniyaad’, this serial has the potential to be a magnum opus for it deals with this,” he told Newsline while pointing to a handful of clay.

Newsline met Abhinav and other youngsters, Vishal Singh and Salim Khan, at the location. Abhinav is busy with his film-production unit in Delhi and makes documentaries and corporate films. "Primarily we make developmental programmes for various ministries that are aired on DD. Nowadays we take out the News and Current Affairs programme for Sahara TV”.

Vishal, the lovable boy next door who floored us with his `Close-up’ smile first in `Gul Gulshan Gulfam’ and then in `Dekh Bhai Dekh’, is all thrilled about the serial and its making. "This urge to go abroad is more in Punjab and through the three of us Peepat shows how youngsters get corrupted by a phoren-returned neighbour, who was Gurinder but became Garry on his return.” And, after a successful modelling career and acting stint on small screen, is silver screen the next? "Only if I get the right kind of roles and right kind of films”.

Salim was in Peepat’s earlier serial `Vansh’ but he became one to be noticed after Maj Ashok Kaul’s `Param Vir Chakra’ wherein he portrayed the role of Hema Malini’s son. Salim has just finished a project with London-based director Harbhajan Virdi, `Teri Mohabbat Ke Naam’. But what all of them unanimously agreed was, "Here all of us worked like a family. It was more when Raghuvir Yadav and Rakesh Bedi were here. And this will definitely reflect in the serial”.

Peepat’s serial centres around the urge of Punjabi youth to go abroad and is written by him though the script is written by journalist-turned-poet of the city, Irshad Kamil. Camera for the serial is wielded by one of the seniors of the realm, Sudershan Nag. In the evening, the crew had an interaction with the press persons at the Press Club where Abhinav stole the show along with Pankaj Berry. If it was Abhinav’s witty poem that drew the claps, people got an extempore from Berry, one from his popular serial, `Umeed’, and another from one of his forthcoming films wherein he is playing a Tamilian villain.
