DHAI AKSHAR PREM KEAfter long, here comes a Jatin-Lalit album. Finally, Babul Supriyo gets a whole album to himself, and more notedly, the return of Ms Anuradha Paudwal! The first Dhai akshar reaction the soundtrack generates is "crap", but then, after listening to it a couple of times you realise that it really isn't so bad after all.The title track by Supriyo and Paudwal is definitely the worst title track of all Raj Kanwar movies (Ithihaas still reigns as one of the best title tracks ever), and like a bad Hollywood movie, it keeps appearing in parts. Four of them in all. Almost a lethal weapon! Pun intended. Then the going gets better. Do lafzon mein by Supriyo and Paudwal sounds like a masterpiece as you get to hear it right after the title track. Nevertheless, a good track. Supriyo tries hard not to sound like Kumar Sanu, but at times, the nose betrays him. And why do all Kishore Kumar-inspired singers HAVE to start a song with a bit of heh-heh and ha-ha and ho-ho? Akhir kyon, yaar? The Supriyo solo and my personal favourite, Koi taaza hawaa is indeed a breath of fresh air. Lots of trumpets, reminding you of the great Ruk jaa number from DDLJ. Next, O mere rabba, dil kyon banaya? questions Paudwal. With a song like like, that she'll be lucky to get an answer. Kavita Krishnamoorthy turns up in the song doing a very bad impersonation of Tadap tadap, leaving behind an impact equivalent to flat tyre.Mera mahi bada sona hain has well-utilised the voice of Junior along with Anuradha Paudwal. Only a matter of time now when we will get hear AB's baby doing a Neela aasmaan! Each to his own tanhai!Ek haseen ladki by Supriyo and Sudesh Bhosle leaves you wondering where is Sudesh Bhosle, really? Kahan hain? Nice hummable track. Especially the "wah bhai wah" bit!The final two duets by Supriyo and Paudwal are good. No great shakes, but keep playing them and they will grow on you. Particularly Yeh sama yeh nazara. Two rounds, and if you're not humming along then you shouldn't be listening to music.Hai deewana sounds like an extension of Yeh sama, but is good in its own right. That's about it. The second helping from JL this year leaves a lot to be desired. The good things about the album are Mr Supriyo and Ms Paudwal. A very sincere effort from both the singers, but a let down by the average tunes definitely not expected from JL. Unless Raj Kanwar does a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai on us (remember how bad that album sounded till you saw the movie?) this remains just a notch above your average everyday soundtrack.
