Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf today called up PM Manmohan Singh to congratulate him on his appointment and expressed hope that progress would be made in bilateral relations on the basis of the understanding reached between the two governments in January.Welcoming the recent positive developments in bilateral ties, Musharraf hoped that subsequent talks would also proceed along the lines agreed upon earlier this year.Musharraf and Pakistan PM Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali had sent congratulatory messages to Singh on Saturday after the swearing-in. Russian President Vladimir Putin also called up Singh today and expressed satisfaction at the bilateral ties between the two nations. British Prime Minister Tony Blair also conveyed his felicitation telephonically to the new Indian Prime Minister today.
