MUMBAI, December 6: The State Government has listed out a time bound programme for issuing of new ration cards and making changes in them. According to a Mantralaya press release, new ration cards will be issued within ten days. Cancellation of ration cards and of names in the ration cards should be completed on the same day or at the most the next day. Necessary papers on the changes and cancellations should also be forwarded on the same day or the next day the latest.

Kannada literary meet opens

MUMBAI: A two-day Maharashtra State Kannada Sahitya Sammelana was inaugurated on Saturday by Karnataka Minister for Culture and Tourism Leeladevi Prasad at Mumbai Karnataka Sangh, Mahim. The literary meet which will conclude on Sunday evening with a play was presided over by noted Kannada writer Yashwant Chittal, a resident of city for over 50 years.

Taurani seeks bail, blames rivals

MUMBAI: Ramesh Taurani, director of TIPS Industries Pvt Ltd and an accused in the Gulshan Kumar murder case, today sought bail from the sessions court on the ground that he had been falsely implicated in the crime by his business competitors as well as by the prosecution. The accused said he had been implicated by his rivals in order to gain an upper hand in music world within the country and abroad.
