
A new bus service between Bandra (w) bus depot and Kurla (w) railway station has been started specially for Mumbai University students of the Kalina campus. This new route, number 216 – via S V Road, Kalanagar, Vakola, Kalina Campus and CST Road – will facilitate residents of Vakola and Kalina to speedily reach the Central as well as Western rail lines.
The National Students Union of India has congratulated the former mayor of Mumbai Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar and the Mumbai University Senate Member, Amarjit Singh Manhas, for their efforts in bringing about this new bus service.
I-A coach
The Indian Airlines has introduced a new air-conditioned limousine coach to ply between the domestic and international terminals of Mumbai airport. This special service is extended to passengers who arrive by I-A flights to Mumbai at Santa Cruz airport and are scheduled to catch an international connecting flight from Sahar airport.
Similarly, the coach picks up international passengers arriving at Sahar by I-A or other international flights and are connecting to domestic flights of Indian Airlines departing from Santa Cruz. The coach which accommodates 28 passengers also has a supervisor and two loaders to assist passengers boarding and handling luggage in the bus.
Raid
Enforcement officials from the Controller of Rationing on Thursday raided the premises of Pravinchandra and Company at Narsi Natha street, Masjid Bander and seized nearly 5,000 kgs of sugar. Said a press note issued by the agency, the trader was conducting business without a valid retail business licence. Pankaj Morarji, a partner of the firm, was arrested by the police.
The agency has undertaken the drive in order to prevent hoarding and blackmarketing of sugar.Conference
A three-day international conference on power generation, En-Power-en Tech will be inaugurated by Madhu Dandavate, deputy chairperson, Planning Commission, on December 11. Foreign delegations from Canada and the USA will be attending the conference.
The keynote address at the conference Power projects, speeding up of government clearances’ will be delivered by E A S Sharma, secretary, ministry of power, government of India.
