India Inc has joined in the relief and rehab operations. Automobile firm, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) said areas near its Kandivli plant was badly affected and it quickly reached out to needy families.

Said Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman & MD, M&M: ‘‘The Mahindra family pledges whole-hearted support to help bring our city back to normal…We are committed not to sacrifice the fabric of this wonderful city where so many good samaritans are working relentlessly to reach out.’’

Cement firm, Gujarat Ambuja Cements said it was offering logistical support to mass relief operations. GACL has deployed almost 100 employees to carry out relief work in Kalina and Panvel.

The cement companys more than 1,000 strong stockist network in the city has also been activated to coordinate relief activity which broadly covers food and bare necessities like cooking utensils and sheets for protection.
