Three injured in shoot-out

  • Three watchmen of a club in Andheri (W) were injured when some unidentified persons shot at them following an argument on Thursday night. According to police, the incident took place when the watchman Sushil Kumar Jha (35) and his two colleagues Shiv Kumar Gupta (29) and Dhanraj Kenjale (43) were on night duty at Andheri Mitra Mandal Club at S V Road.
  • The assailants arrived at 10.30 pm and asked Jha to open the door. When he refused, they started arguing with them. Meanwhile, one of the assailants pulled out a revolver and fired six rounds and injured them. On hearing shot sounds, few local residents assembled and rushed the injured persons to Cooper Hospital. Jha and Kenjale were discharged, while Gupta was still undergoing treatment. The D N Nagar Police Station has registered a case of attempted murder and investigations are on to nab the culprits.

    One held for possessing arms

  • Detection Crime Branch, CID, unit VI, have arrested a person inpossession of a revolver and live cartridges on Thursday at Bhandup. According to police, the accused Jashpal Singh R Thakur (20) was arrested near Mangat Ram petrol pump at 8.30 pm when he was trying to sell his revolver to someone. The accused Thakur has been remanded to police custody till March 26.
