RAJKOT, NOV 30: Mumbai were 241 for one on the opening day of their four-day West Zone Ranji Trophy league match against Saurashtra at the RMC Race Course Stadium here today.
Electing to bat first on a flat track, Mumbai openers Samir Dighe (107 not out) and Manoj Joglekar (64) faced no threat from the Saurashtra bowlers, who scuttled out Mumbai for just 197 in the one-dayer on Sunday. Dighe and Joglekar made 131 runs for the opening stand before the latter snicked the only successful bowler Niraj Odedara into the gloves of ‘keeper Manoj Parmar.
Jatin Paranjpe joined Dighe and made an unbeaten 66 in the second century stand of the day fetching 110 runs. Dighe completed his century in the last session of the day and his 267-ball 107 contained 16 hits to the boundary. Paranjpe hit seven fours and a six so far facing 168 balls.
Saurashtra skipper Sitanshu Kotak tried six bowlers including himself but failed to trap the watchful Mumbai batsmen.
