SRINAGAR, DEC 22: On the 25th day of the Ramzan ceasefire which also marked the Jumatul-vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan, three persons including a Hizbul Mujahideen commander and a surrendered militant were killed in the Valley.

In the evening, a patrol of security forces was fired upon by militants at Brah, Ranipora, Anantnag. In the ensuing encounter, a self-styled battalion commander of Hizbul outfit was killed. He has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh alias Jehangir Moulvi of Kheeribal. One AK series rifle and three magazines were recovered from the deceased.

Police recovered a body from Hargam, Keller, Shopian. The deceased, Abdul Rashid Rather of Narpora, Shopian, was affiliated with National Conference. He was abducted yesterday by unidentified militants.

In a separate incident, unidentified militants shot dead a surrendered militant, Mushtaq Ahmad Malikat Mohalla Jalal Sahib, Baramulla. In Kupwara district, militants fired upon the security force camp at Dewanpora Sodal, Handwara. One Mohammad Lateef War of Dewaspora was injured in the exchange. He has been hospitalised. His family members, however allege that he was fired upon by the security forces.

Militants hurled a grenade towards a police party of the special operation group of police at Tangmarg Bazar, which exploded on the road causing injuries to a pedestrian who was moved to a hospital.

Militants also fired upon a car which was on way from Srinagar to Baramulla at Haigam. One Prem Singh was injured in the firing. He was shifted to hospital.

Militants fired few rifle grenades followed by firing on the security force camp at Court Road, Sopore.

Militants fired upon one Mohammad Amin Wani alias Bita Bumboo of Khawaja Bazar at Mogal Mohalla, Rainawari. However, he escaped unhurt. He is affiliated with Ikhwan.

At Sadhu Ganga Kandi in Kupwara, Army arrested three persons in a raid. They have been identified as Mohammad Maqbool, Ghulam Nabi Parray and Nazir Ahmad. The villagers said alleged they are civilians.
