VADODARA, July 25: The Board of Studies of the Faculty of Science at the M S University has decided to start two self-financed courses beginning this academic year. The two courses are Bachelor's of Science (BSc) in computer studies and chemistry.Talking about the introduction of courses, Vice-dean of the faculty S R Pandya said, ``Though we have already taken the decision in the meeting held recently, the final decision would depend on the Syndicate members.''If the Syndicate cleared the proposal during its meeting scheduled to be held on July 30, Pandya said, then the courses would be introduced from this academic year itself.``The courses had to be self-financed because the faculty does not have the infrastructure to finance these courses in the normal schedule,'' he said, adding that students enrolled in these courses would attend classes in the evening.``The Board of studies of the faculty has sanctioned 80 seats for each course,'' said Pandya, adding that the courses were ideally designed for those who had secured a low percentage and were unable to get admissions in regular courses. Those securing below 55 per cent in class 12 could apply for these courses, Pandya said, adding that the final fee structure for the courses would be decided after the Syndicate gave a go-ahead for the proposals. But the proposed fees were Rs 10,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 for the three years of the courses respectively, he said.
