BHOPAL, MARCH 11: Around two-third of a total of 47 ministers in Madhya Pradesh appear to be no longer popular in the constituencies they represent in the state Assembly. This conclusion has been drawn from the detailed results of the recent Lok Sabha elections which indicate that the ruling Congress trailed in 29 out of the 47 constituencies represented by ministers.

In the Assembly segment, in Bhind Lok Sabha constituency, represented by the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Satyadev Katare, the Congress nominee, Balendu Shukla trailed by a massive 33,379 votes. The Congress position was not good even in the constituencies of two of the six ministers who contested the Parliamentary polls but lost.

Of the six ministers who contested the elections, the two winners were Charandas Mahant and Kantilal Bhuria who won from Champa and Thandla Assembly segments respectively. Two other contesting ministers Rajendra Kumar Singh and Balendu Shukla did lose but maintained leads in their constituencies.
